Castle Howard
Castle Howard is one of Britain’s finest stately homes, situated just 16 miles southeast of Cockerdale in the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Built over 300 years ago by Sir John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor, it is an architectural masterpiece, both externally and internally, set within the breathtaking North Yorkshire countryside.
Enjoy stunning scenery all year, with almost 1,000 acres of Grade 1 listed parkland and gardens to explore. Spend the day in a monumental landscape studded with statues, temples, lakes and fountains and admire sweeping countryside views. Meander along woodland paths and in the tranquil walled garden.
Famous as the setting for television and film versions of Evelyn Waugh’s novel ‘Brideshead Revisited’ as well as several other films including ‘Bridgerton’ and my personal favourite ‘Garfield: A tale of Two Kitties’ (2006).
